In seven days we are getting to know “The world’s first mobile grads – Available for internship in your area” It’s the class project of Mobile Application students from Hyper Island – Karlskrona. The video looks great, and I can’t wait to see the whole site/store.

I was going to bed when I got an idea for a run. A little over a year ago my class and I was in the beginning of the Promotion and Marketing module. We were suppose to promote ourselves, the class, and Hyper Island. That was when “What is XV?” started. When we talked about how to get the industry people of design and advertising to notice us we joked about life size posters and cutouts.
Now since I’m working at GoldRun I can do this! I can create ARs of Masse Nisstany who is in Beijing and Ola Syse who is in Amsterdam, and place them right here in New York where I am. How cool is that.

Last night Hyper Island NYC had a gathering for us (the new interns here in New York), and there were also some old Hyper students. It was a really great night, beer, wine, snacks, and all of us. So fun to see everyone again, Stockholm and Karlskrona. It was also really fun meeting Klara, who I emailed a lot when applying to Hyper.

I’ve started to pack my things. Not packing for the NYC move, but for leaving this apartment in Karlskrona. I have boxes all over the floor, and I realize how many small things I have. Like my Kylskåps Poesi (360 words on magnets you put on your fridge). I have taken down all the words except this poem that Ola put together first time he was here. Then I have papers all over the place as well, old bills, school papers, and post-its. Tomorrow everything will be put away, so Saturday can be cleaning day. Yes, that is right – I’m leaving Karlskrona on Saturday!

The second Stena Line site that I worked on before the summer is launched. This site is for the new boat Stena Vision that goes between Karlskrona and Gdynia, and you can celebrate together with Stena Line using your microphone and blow confetti. It’s pretty fun.

The prison, Hvita Briggen, in Karlskrona has been closed down, so today it was open for the public to visit and to see. It’s been a prison for almost 160 years, and it was really interesting to see the cells. At the same time it felt quite strange that the last inmate just left yesterday.
Here is a documentary about the prison. (in Swedish)

The Sail Karlskrona is in town. That means a lot of sail boats, rides, food, beer, and tons of people. Fun!

I’m going to KunskapsDagarna again on April 12th. I went there last fall to listen to four speakers, and I’ll do the same now. Last year they spoke at Ångan, Hyper Island, and at Marinmuseet. This time they will be at the new hotel Scandic Karlskrona, down by Fisktorget.

Today there will be a “tomteverkstad” at Båtsmans, Hyper Island, Karlskrona. “Tomteverkstad” is in Swedish when the elves makes all the gifts before Christmas. This week we got all the material that we need, and today the Promotion team will start making stuff. Again I can’t say more about it…but I’m super excited for them, and a little sad that I can’t be with them. I’m sure they’ll do a great job and that they will have a lot of fun doing it.

Johan Rosell

I’m in Stockholm and it feels great. 7:35pm Andreas Kleiner, Josue Motta, Christoffer Erneholm, Sara-Lee Rost, and I left from Ronneby (Karlskrona) to go to Stockholm. Tomorrow is the Open House at Hyper Island and we will be there to represent Digital Media, Karlskrona. It will be so much fun to meet new applicants, and people interested in Hyper Island.

This is how much fun we have at Hyper Island, Karlskrona. We started a Tinychat, and invited our MGD friends, tweeted about it and Hyper Stockholm join. We also got people from Amsterdam Worlswide to join. How I miss you all! Really good seeing you.

Tomorrow I’ll be attending three seminars in the morning. I don’t have a lecture at Hyper Island until 1.30pm, so this will be perfect. All the seminars are in Swedish, and the ones I’m attending are held at the Marinmuseum here in Karlskrona.
The first seminar is about conflicts and how to communicate. I think this one can be very good and when I read about it, it reminds me a little about the UGL course I took when starting at Hyper Island. Glenn Carlbark will be the speaker.
The second seminar is about branding and everything around branding. Joakim Eklund and Viktor Ehrenberg will be sharing information about starting up a business, what qualities to embrace in a company, how to communicate through the right medias, and how to create a strategy.
Tomas Lydahl will be talking at the last seminars, where he will tell us how to get our clients to brag about us. This can be hard, since it is the disappointed clients who talk the most. Satisfied clients might not say anything, and they might not use your service the next time even if they where happy with your result.
I’m very excited about what I’ll hear tomorrow. There are 13 more seminars going on, some at the Marinmuseum but also some at Hyper Island. Check out the list and sign up here.

It’s been an intense beginning at Hyper Island with both UGL and Team Building, but I feel that I’ve balanced it out. Since I moved to Karlskorna I’ve been away two weekends to see family and friends and that’s been really good for me.
The weekend before the UGL course I took the train to Halmstad to see the family I nannied for in New York. I hadn’t seen them in two months by then and it was the best weekend of this summer.
Last weekend, the weekend after the Team Building I took the bus to Kalmar where my father, his wife, and my sister picked me up to continue to Öland. We spent the weekend camping and I realized it’s been way to long since I did that with them.
I really am happy to be in Sweden. Sure I miss New York, San Diego, and San Francisco and everything and everyone that comes with it, but I find it resting and peaceful to be living here now. And there is nothing I want more then to be a part of Hyper Island.

Its been a long weekend from Friday to Tuesday. I’ve been really tired from the UGL course, and I haven’t been very social. But now it is time for team building and both Digital Media and Motion (MGD10KNA) are leaving Trossö, Karlskrona for three days to stay and play somewhere secret.
I think this team building will be like a part II of the UGL, but this time in bigger groups and outside. I’m excited and it will be fun to see the whole class again.

I’ve been in Karlskrona for a week now and I really do love it. My family helped me move last Saturday and there has been something going on every day. I’ve unpacked and the apartment really feels like home. Some of my stuff I also had in my last apartment in San Diego, so that might be why. I’ve met up with my friends who I got to know while they lived and worked in San Diego. I also found a trail where I can run and it’s about 5K.
A lot of people from my class got here Friday and Saturday, so we all met up and partied a little. It’s nice since 12(!) people live in the same building sharing three apartments.
